I played PG for 3 weeks. Good 130+ hours of gameplay. This game is very Alpha and the team is very small. Saying that they have created an excellent little alpha game. If there is a long term for the game it can only get great.
graphically the game is not up to anything you play with cryengine for sure. Its laid back, a bit buggy (hey its alpha), and not brilliant. But do graphics need to be perfect and killer for every game we play? do you even look at the graphics after a week or so of playing? I know I don’t and rather have game play then graphics anyday. Hell I started with Pong.. those graphics weren’t even graphics. 2 lines and a round bit and your done… So for graphics the game gets a C-, but I don’t really care.

One thing about Project Gorgon is the immense skill system they have built. You get skill for everything. Death… picking mushrooms.. performing autopsies on the mobs you kill. Turn into a cow, or werewolf.. or whatever and you get a whole skill chain for that. Every level or 5 levels for most skills you get something.
Now this is only 3 days into the game and at the moment the skill cap is 50 for every skill. I have only spent time on one land mass and hardly have all the possible skills but you can see where this is going. We are told to not just get 50 combat skills but to layer all our skills up at the same time… Why? because a well rounded player is better at the game then a tank or healer. I LOVE THAT!
And CHOOSE ABILITIES. Once you get a stack of abilities gained from skilling you can select which of those to drag and drop to your quick bar. Abilities also get leveled. You start with punch level 1 and soon you can move it up to level 2 and level 3…. saving that small quick bar’s space with higher level attacks.
If this is the alpha with only X amount of content, imagine the full game!
After Rift destroyed my Saturday morning of gaming two small alpha games quickly came to save me. First up was Saturday and Project Ion. ITs really really alpha. Avas, mobs, loot is purely alpha like. Fun enough to play and I got a HOF on my 3rd mob. I didn’t get first day video because I had streaming problems. Went to play on Sunday and encountered a bug that logged me in to the server with no loot, clothes, chat… Like being on my own planet. ITs a known bug blamed on my TCP stack (HAHAHA) that is suppose to be fixed in next version, which is not dated. So this one sits on the sidelines for a while.
I went back to Project Gorgon after the F1 qualifying when I couldn’t continue in Ion. Again very alpha but more full of things to do and my god this baby is full of good humor. Streaming worked so we have Day 2 video. Day one I found a bug in the programming and on day 2 I had to start over again. But that’s fine (even thou my day 1 ava had better loot in it I didn’t want to lose) and since my first ava is out there I named myself dalewj2 (Imagination run wild). But started day 2 as a human, went into cow form later on. will play cow for a bit and move back to human after. This game (again if it can survive the alpha stage and not screw up going beta or gold) has a chance of being a very cool sandbox.
